About A Song of Ice and Fire
A Song of Ice and Fire is a fantasy book series unlike any other series in its genre. It is extremely realistic, not just showing magic and battles, but the politics, history and human motives behind everything as well.
When you start to read, something that immediately stands out is the fact that the stories is not told from one single point of view. Every chapter has the name of one of the characters, and is actually told through the eyes of that character. In book 1, there are 9 such characters, but this grows to no less than 31 in book 5.
This unique approach has allowed Martin to tell a story of truly epic proportions. Although told in fragments, all the storylines are interwoven brilliantly.
The tension in the books of A Song of Ice and Fire is present at all times. Because as you’ll find out, there is no clear distinction between right and wrong in the world that Martin has created.
The power in the Game of Thrones shifts continuously, and you never know whether or not a character will even still be alive at the end of the chapter …
